How we classify corrections.

TYPO / COSMETIC

Fix in place, logged in commit history only.

MINOR FACTUAL

Fix + correction notice at bottom of page.

MATERIAL CORRECTION

Fix + prominent notice at top of page + homepage notice for 7 days.

RETRACTION

Strikethrough (not delete) + RETRACTION header + homepage notice for 30 days + notify entity.

TAKEDOWN

Replace with takedown notice (not 404) + explain why. The URL stays live.

WHAT WE NEVER DO

Five commitments.

We never silently edit a published page.
We never delete a page to make a correction disappear.
We never backdate a correction notice.
We never edit or delete this corrections log.
We never remove a correction notice early under pressure.

REPORT AN ERROR
